Nina Hesper-Dugdale

I have worked with a student before, and found that the best way that I find to work is through a more relaxed atmosphere, where we can sit and have a conversation about the wonderful subject that is English! I really bring my own love and passion for the subject to the lessons, and I hope more than anything to encourage this same love in my students! Having just finished my A-Levels, school life is fresh in my mind, and I want to give a more conversational alternative to this, with a focus on discussion based learning, and getting to know my students' unique approach to learning, reading, and writing. When it's English Literature that we'll be doing, I have a focus on ideas and themes, as I think that allowing students to get to grips with the broad themes of the text is the most important thing- especially when they bring their own approach, as all readers do.
With me, you'll learn in an environment where we both feel at ease, and able to really explore all of your thoughts. Alongside this, I do believe that consistent work is the route to better learning, so I will try and give a real focus to the areas you feel weakest in, and perhaps where you don't get the support from your teachers. With this focus I hope to consolidate a foundation of confidence in my students, which allows them to come at learning, homework, and exams, with an attitude that lets them know that they can do it, and do it well!
