I always start by allowing the student to (mainly independently) work through a past paper to figure out their weaknesses.
The following lessons I will target these problems by teaching/reteaching the topic to exactly pinpoint the struggles.
Once this is done we will tackle a variety of past paper questions to completely nail exam technique and avoid making repetitive mistakes.
My past students never felt embarrassed to make mistakes, as i reassure, I was in that position not too long ago so we will just laugh this off and practice similar style questions from the same topic until they are 100% certain of what to do instead of just ‘guessing’ what feels right.
Closer to exams I like working on a lot of past paper questions as they tend to be pretty repetitive and this allows you to feel more confident with the layout of questions.
