I use a highly interactive, personalized method in my lessons where learning how and why to learn are just as important as what we do learn. I like to space out information properly so that my students are able to listen, go away and reflect on the content, and then return, having completed an assignment or two and digested the key points in their own words.
Especially in writing- and communication-heavy disciplines like the humanities, film, etc., being able to work independently and maintain self-motivation are critical. I like to integrate these key skills into the lesson plans so that we can scaffold upward from smaller tasks to larger, more complex ones. This helps students build the creative-intellectual "muscle" of a successful humanities practice.
Harvard-trained and LA-born, I am an American filmmaker currently based in London and eager to offer my tutoring services to Londoners or other UK residents far and wide. I've already loved living in the UK over the past 3 years and hope to live here for a little while longer! If you're interested in working with someone with a different perspective, I'm your person.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more specifics about the arc of my lessons or the content/format I plan on using - though this will be tailored to each individual student - then please don't hesitate to reach out and contact me. And, if you're so inclined, feel free to book a first lesson!
I look forward to hearing from you :)
