Hi! I'm Nicola, and I'm a qualified teacher who is passionate about science and biology. I studied Marine Biology at university, and spent several years as a science teacher before starting tutoring. I really enjoy being able to teach on a one-to-one basis, as it allows me to really focus on what you will find most valuable for your progress.
Science is not an easy subject - despite it being taught and considered as one, it is essentially 3 entirely different disciplines, so it is very natural to feel like you understand some aspects, and really do not understand others. Maths can often feature very heavily in science as well, and while I really love maths, I'm aware that very many people do not share this love! With private tutoring, we can take more time than is granted in the classroom to hone your skills, ensure that you understand each concept, and help translate your answers into 'exam-speak'.
You can very much control how we approach these lessons, all based on what you feel the most/least confident in. If you would prefer to focus on exam practise and the approach to questions, I can provide resources to help, or if you'd rather go back over content you have learned in class, we can look at different approaches to help you feel confident in your knowledge and understanding.
