I am an experienced English teacher and educational leader with over seven years' experience teaching students from Key Stage 3 to A Level. Currently Deputy Head of Sixth Form and KS5 English Co-ordinator at a high-performing girls' school, I specialise in English Language and Literature, supporting students to develop confidence, independence and academic excellence.

Throughout my career, I have taught across a wide range of abilities and age groups, from students preparing for 11+ entrance examinations to those securing places at leading universities through outstanding GCSE and A Level results. My experience includes designing and leading English curricula, developing evidence-informed teaching approaches, and supporting students through key academic milestones including entrance examinations, GCSEs, A Levels and university applications.

My tutoring approach is tailored to the individual needs of each student. I believe that success in English comes from developing both subject knowledge and the confidence to articulate ideas effectively. Lessons are carefully structured to build core skills in reading, writing, analysis and critical thinking, while also fostering a genuine appreciation of literature and language. Through retrieval practice, metacognitive strategies and carefully sequenced learning, I help students build lasting understanding rather than relying on short-term memorisation.

For 11+ students, I focus on developing comprehension, vocabulary, creative writing and examination technique. At GCSE and A Level, I support students in mastering assessment objectives, refining essay-writing skills and engaging critically with texts. Whether a student is aiming to improve confidence, achieve a particular grade, prepare for an entrance examination or secure a place at a competitive university, I provide clear guidance, high expectations and personalised support.

As both a classroom teacher and senior leader, I understand the importance of building positive relationships and creating an environment in which students feel challenged, supported and motivated to succeed. My goal is not only to help students achieve excellent outcomes, but also to develop the skills and confidence that will serve them throughout their education and beyond.
