Hi! I'm passionate about language and it's power to connect and allow for individual expression. This is reflected in my decisions to study Spanish at university and later qualify as a professional teacher of English as a foreign language. I have lived in worked as a teacher in the following countries since 2011: Peru, Colombia, U.K., Brazil, China, Thailand, Malaysia. I have worked for language schools with both adults and children, teaching 1:1 classes online and in person, or group classes in person (ranging from 3 to 16 students per class). So my experience is wide and varied.

I think my best skill is with 1:1 classes, which allows me to focus on that student's particular needs and interests. I am creative and always looking to evolve my teaching methods. For teaching English, I have access to a series of Business English coursebooks (including audio), from beginner to advanced level, and also a General English language series (Face 2 Face). I also have lots of my own created materials, which I used when teaching at a language school.

I believe that learning happens best when the student is interested or motivated naturally by the topic, which means I encourage a lot of free speaking and general conversation in my lessons. I can the listen to the student speaking at length and identify what they need to study or practice, for example grammar and pronunciation topics. I will then integrate those things into future lessons.

I always encourage my students to develop their vocabulary independently by practicing a little each day, by reading, listening to podcasts, music or watching multimedia in the target language. I try to build a natural relationship where the student feels they can trust me to continue helping them and making their language lessons fun and engaging, so hopefully we can work together for a long time.
