My lessons are carefully structured to follow the curriculum while also going beyond it to deepen understanding and boost confidence. I typically focus on one topic per session, which gives us time to really unpack the material and make connections. I break concepts down clearly, encourage questions throughout, and make sure students feel comfortable engaging in discussion, no question is ever too small!
Each session ends with a short homework task, designed to consolidate learning and stretch thinking. I then mark this in detail and go through it with the student in the following lesson, offering personalised feedback and helping them understand how to improve. I also build in independent thinking time during sessions so that students can process what they've learned and build exam skills in a supportive environment.
The first lesson always includes a baseline assessment and a Q&A, so I can understand the student’s current level, learning style, and any specific goals or challenges they’d like to focus on.
I currently teach 1:1 sessions every week as well as larger group classes, including 11+ prep, GCSE, and A-Level students. I have particular experience with SEN learners and home-educated students, and I take a patient, flexible approach to help meet each individual’s learning style.
Most of all, I aim to create a space where students feel supported and challenged — where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Whether it’s improving essay technique, mastering exam content, or boosting confidence, I’m here to help every step of the way.
