As a graduate at Swinburne University of Technology, an alliance between Swinburne University in Australia and FPT in Vietnam and currently starting my Masters at Leeds Beckett University, I have studied, written reports, presented briefs all in English. Hence I am extremely confident in my English proficiency and ability to spread the knowledge of English as a foreign language. Furthermore, I have previously worked as an online 1-on-1 ESL tutor for a small English tutoring centre for over a year where I taught students to improve their proficiency in one or multiple specific skills (i.e. speaking, grammar, writing) to let them catch up to their school's curriculum and prepare them for the IELTS proficiency tests using materials provided by the school. In this position, I have also curated and marked mock examinations, adapted and switched teaching methods to suit students’ needs and communicated with parents to report on their progress. Similarly, I have also worked as an in-person tutor also teaching ESL and improving students’ grades from below to above average for their English subject. Last but not least, I have obtained an IELTS Academic certificate with an overall mark of 8.0 twice (in 2022 and 2026, respectively).
My lesson typically lasts 2 hours a day where I would start with a warm up/revision from the previous lesson or marking their homework. The lesson continues after, followed by a quick 10 to 15-minute break then practice for the rest of the session. Since I am familiar with 1-on-1 sessions, I tend to interact with students all the time to make sure they understand and be able to put the new knowledge to use, making sure they're comfortable to ask questions at all times. Last but not least, I will assign homework, the amount depending on their timetable so I will not overwhelm them!
