I like to start my lessons with a test so I am able to see what needs improving and what my students stronger points are. I ask what they would like to focus on and if there’s anything particular they need help in, or I can refer to this exam to point out where my students stronger and weaker points may be.
I use different methods to teach my topics. Whether it be through games, rhymes, or even reading the textbook, I make sure each lesson the student has a clear understanding of the topic they needed help on.
Having been tutored myself from the ages 5-16, I understand what the child wants and what way is better for them to learn.
I like to finish off using the same test to track their progress and see whether they’ve understood the topic for today, or whether there is more work that needs to be done.
I like to set extra work to complete before the next lesson, if I feel as though they need this.
