I use a conversational format to encourage the student to speak a lot and as soon as possible. We will speak on a variety of topics from introduction through to food, weather, ordering in a restaurant to discussing interests and job roles.

I will also use flashcards with postures of objects on there to increase vocabulary. I will ask them to make a dictionary of their own to increase their understanding of words and their meaning.

Other times we will look at the newspapers and discuss current affairs. We can also look at TV programmes and clips and I will them ask the learner what they understand.
