We will work together to gauge in which topics you are the strongest, and which need extra support. Retaining knowledge is about practicing until you feel confident in your answers and are able to apply what you have learned in a relevant context. Using textbooks, course material, and topic worksheets, I make learning fun with different creative approaches. No two lessons will be the same!

I may ask you to make a word-map of key terms, identify instances of a literary device in a text, or to tell me what you know of the cultural context surrounding a novel or play. Your opinion on the text is important, because it will inform the basis for your examination essays. We will cover the foundations of essay writing - including essay structure, literary analysis, how to use quotations, correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling, and how to keep your writing focused on the question.

I have experience working with students from 5-17, and of all abilities, and I ensure that my teaching is tailored to the needs of the student. No two people learn in exactly the same way, so I have found that taking a holistic approach to tutoring is not only effective in improving a student's grades, but motivating them to get engaged with the subject and feel confident in their work.
