I use a variety of training methods to engage with students depending on their needs and preferences. These range from using virtual reality headsets, role-play, deck presentations to individual feedback and mentoring. My students' testimonies following my training is what I value and following their successes. Many have gone onto senior roles in professions of their choice or are running successful businesses and projects. They credit me with giving them the skills and confidence to make that leap of faith. My technique rests on getting them to think critically and discover their own potential. Their way forward is sometimes not the route they predicted but by gaining the ability to think for themselves, they are able to adapt to whatever life and global challenges are thrown at them. I often say, "these aren't just lessons in leadership, strategy and communication but lessons for life." As a former BBC journalist, I'm keen for my students to use their common sense, their personal experiences and personality to be the best leader and communicator - they can be. Teaching isn't just about presenting and talking - it's also about listening and observing. That way I can really see what will help a student go on to achieve their full potential in the coming years. Learning is something that the student and I do together. To call it a journey is a bit of a cliche but it's certainly an adventure which both of us take, and we see the benefit of it, if not immediately, then in the next few months or years.
