I currently teach GCSE and A Level students the mathematics curriculum. I have taught students online and in person, both one-to-one and in class settings. I currently teach students online in classes from just 1 person for a more focused and personal lesson, up to 40 students. I teach using an online whiteboard and calculator using a screenshare display to present the lesson. For one-to-one lessons, I encourage students to communicate with me as if it's a study group, rather than having the lessons be lecture based. Talking back and forth keeps things interesting and allows me to see how my students are thinking and approaching problems. For more complex problems, students have the choice of whether or not they want to work on their own and then discuss methods and answers afterwards, or again just talk though how to solve the problem. Everything discussed, ideas mentioned and problems tackled are displayed on the whiteboard. At the end of the session, the whiteboard, and optional recording of the lesson, is sent to the student so it can be used for revision.

The great thing about online lessons is that I an access any of my saved questions from my digital library. I've compiled a plethora of questions for all levels on every topic. This allows me to access questions from basic level up to challenging depending on what the student requires.

A method I use for students that come to me half way through the year or closer to their exams is to look at recently completed exam papers - either from/with myself or from school. This allows me to evaluate weaker areas or gaps in the student's knowledge which needs to be addressed.
