As an aspiring maths tutor currently studying A-Level Maths, I aim to make my lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I achieved an A* equivalent at GCSE, and I’ve been helping friends, younger students, and family members with maths during free periods at school and in my own time. These experiences have helped me understand how to explain concepts clearly and patiently, no matter the student’s confidence level.
My lessons usually follow a structured yet flexible format. I start by reviewing any topics the student is currently working on or struggling with, then break the content down into manageable parts. I use lots of examples, walkthroughs, and practice questions to build confidence and understanding. I also encourage students to ask questions freely—there are no silly questions in my lessons!
Depending on the student’s goals, I can focus on schoolwork, reinforce tricky topics, or help prepare for exams using past papers and exam-style questions. My priority is making sure students feel supported and leave each session understanding more than when they came in.
I know from experience how stressful maths can feel, but I believe with the right support and a positive mindset, anyone can improve and even learn to enjoy it!
