Myles Williams

Hello! My name is Myles and I'm a second-year student of English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford. I have always loved literature and linguistics, and since I find that enjoyment of both is highly dependent on the teacher, I enjoy tutoring people both in the language and literature of English and having the opportunity to share my passion. I have previous teaching experience from volunteer teaching in local schools, where I helped pupils to imporve their critical reading skills, as well as some private tutoring here and there. I have also had experience coaching students to improve the fluency of their English, as well as helping them better understand how to suit their language to different contexts.

If I am tutoring you in literary criticism, I will usually start the lesson off by having a look at an essay that you've written previously that I will have asked you to send in prior to the lesson. We will then read through some sections of your essay that I've added points of critique to. Afterwards, we will then address some of the gaps in your knowledge, whether that be in technique, or the text that you're analysing, or context for the text you're analysing. Afterwards, I will ask to you draft up a plan an answer to the same question that your attempt was answering, and then we will both start to flesh out that plan until a fundamentally improved essay is arrived at.
