In short, our ability and speed to learn Turkish is proportional to our ability to think in Turkish. Of course, personalized methods will be adapted in 6 points regarding this matter.
1. Grammar-Translation Method: Although this is one of the older methods, it can be considered the most important first step.
2. Natural Method: Unlike the translation method, it focuses on teaching spoken language instead of written language.
3. Berlitz Method: Understanding-listening, understanding-reading, speaking, and writing skills are the primary goals in this method.
4. Listen-Speak Method: In the listen-speak technique, only oral instruction is important.
5. Visual Learning: Films and images are among the most effective learning tools.
6. Cognitive Method: This method is based on structural linguistics. This is based on the principle that a student who cannot learn grammar cannot succeed. In short, instead of memorizing the language, it is necessary to know the system of the language.
These technical details I've mentioned could potentially become tedious depending on the situation. However, I must state that I do not subscribe to the idea that a language can only be learned through purely theoretical instruction. Therefore, in my lessons, I aim to make learning enjoyable and, beyond theoretical explanations, to integrate the power of art, literature, poetry, and music—important tools used in the practical application of language—in a balanced way, without separating them from the language itself.
