My maths lessons are designed to be clear, supportive, and engaging. I understand that many students find maths challenging, so I always start by assessing each student’s current level and goals. From there, I create a personalized plan that builds on their strengths and addresses the areas they find most difficult.
I make sure every lesson has structure, but also flexibility to adapt to the student’s pace. Typically, we begin by reviewing key concepts with simple explanations, followed by guided examples. Then, students practice independently with my support, so they can gain confidence in solving problems on their own. I like to ask questions that encourage critical thinking and logical reasoning, helping learners truly understand the “why” behind each method rather than just memorising steps.
Over the years, I have worked with students of different ages and abilities, from those preparing for GCSE and A-level exams to younger learners who need extra support. This experience has taught me how to adapt my teaching style, whether a student needs patience and encouragement, or a challenge to stretch their abilities further.
I also integrate real-life applications of maths wherever possible, showing students how the subject connects to everyday life and future careers. This approach not only makes learning more interesting, but also helps students appreciate the value of mathematics.
Most importantly, my lessons create a positive learning environment where mistakes are seen as part of the journey. With consistent practice and the right guidance, every student can grow in confidence and achieve their goals in maths.
