I am an experienced English tutor with over two years of tutoring experience, working with students from KS3 through to A-Level. I have a strong understanding of the English curriculum and exam specifications, and I tailor my lessons to ensure students are fully prepared for assessments while also developing genuine confidence in their abilities. Alongside tutoring, I currently work as a paralegal and am studying for a Master’s in Law with the aim of qualifying as a solicitor, which has strengthened my analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
My lessons are calm, supportive, and goal-focused. I begin by assessing the student’s current level and identifying strengths, gaps in understanding, and specific goals, whether that is improving grades, exam technique, essay structure, or overall confidence with English. From there, I adapt each lesson to suit the student’s learning style and pace, ensuring concepts are explained clearly and accessibly.
I place a strong emphasis on exam skills, including understanding mark schemes, analysing texts effectively, planning strong essays, and improving written expression. For younger students, I focus on building solid foundations in reading, writing, and comprehension. For GCSE and A-Level students, lessons are more targeted and specification-driven, helping students feel confident and in control going into exams.
I believe learning should feel structured but not overwhelming. I prioritise steady progress, clear explanations, and encouragement over pressure, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My aim is not only to improve grades, but to help students feel more confident, capable, and independent in their learning.
