About me

My approach to public speaking is rooted in a simple philosophy: Lessons should feel like a conversation, not a lecture. We dive into the most pressing global issues of our time, learning not just what to think, but how to think. By examining various stances and constructing rigorous arguments for and against them, you develop a 360-degree understanding of any topic.

4. Strategic Depth: Mastery of matter-loading, motion analysis, and the nuances of role fulfillment in international formats. This is crucial for anybody looking to learn advanced debating

For the Developing Speaker

If your goal isn't a trophy but personal growth, our focus shifts to the foundations of Public Speaking.

1. Critical Thinking & Argumentation: We move beyond "sharing an opinion." You will learn to build cohesive, logical frameworks that can withstand scrutiny. You’ll learn to identify logical fallacies and structure your thoughts so that your audience can follow your journey from A to Z.

2. Confidence: Public speaking is a marathon, not a sprint. We work on the stamina and presence required to speak for 8 minutes straight with poise. By the end of our sessions, the podium will feel like your natural environment rather than a source of stress.

3. Understanding Real World Issues: By debating real-world issues, you gain a sophisticated understanding of international relations, economics, and ethics, making you the most informed person in any room.

I've also attached a few examples of what kind of motions you are likely to get at tournaments. This will help you understand the sort of discussions we will have in our classes and whether it's something that interests you.

1. This House opposes the popularisation of social justice speak

"Social justice speak" refers to the growing use of academic and activist terms about structural oppression and social inequality in everyday conversations, outside academic or activist settings. Examples include, but are not limited to, terms like: “mansplaining,” “white privilege,” “microaggressions,” and “intersectionality.”

2. This House believes that environmental movements should prioritize adaptation (e.g., flood defenses, drought-resistant crops, etc.) over mitigation (e.g., emission cuts, changing energy matrices, etc.) in relation to climate change.

3. This house believes that the act of recasting minority actors as existing characters in popular franchises has done more harm than good
