With 19 years teaching experience including 8 as a Head of Department, I can make physics topics clearer and boost exam confidence. Having been an examiner for the main exam boards, I can help students to improve their exam performance. Whether you are aiming for a D or an A* I will be able to help. As a teacher I have taught thousands of students with an enormous range of abilities and needs, and will have a strategy to help any learner. Students report finding my empathetic style extremely supportive.
After gaining my degree in Physics from the University of Reading, I spent 18 years in industry working in lighting research, IT and project management. I then moved into teaching and now have 19 years teaching experience including 8 years as Head of Department. This unique background means I am well placed to make tricky physics topics clear and boost exam confidence.
Helping a learner to progress requires that the teacher be able to understand the current state of a students knowledge. The teacher then needs to identify mis-understandings and help students self-correct. This requires a skillset that can only be gained through experience and self-reflection. I now have that experience. With the added bonus of having examined for the main exam boards, I know that can help students to improve their grade performance.
I have seen a lot of tutoring websites which "guarantee" grade improvement. That is a really tricky guarantee to make, and one that is very hard to measure. I've helped students to improve by one or occasionally two grades. Exams are fundamentally a competition - it's about helping students to do better than their peers.
