I focus on the student, not their results. I have seen first hand that once a student gains confidence, they can achieve almost anything. I have experience tutoring children with SEND. I love linking the Science syllabus to the child’s interests and passions. Because of this, the students begin to see somewhat abstract topic as relevent to them and their aims. I have a degree in Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham and am passionate about helping my students achieve the best possible grades.

I focus on making sure that my students understand sometimes complex and abstract scientific concepts with ease and can make vital links between topics.

Sometimes even the brightest students cannot get all of the available marks because they lack exam practice. Therefore, when students are approaching exams, I focus on going through past papers. I try to make this fun by engaging with the student and breaking questions into smaller, more manageable chunks. I have found that this approach yields a better understanding of the exam structure and I show and tell my students what the examiners are looking for in a top answer. I don't believe that science is for everyone. It objectively is not. However, any student can get good grades and actually enjoy the process of doing so once we begin to link the content to their current hobbies.

Revision is a key part of getting good exam results. Often students don't know the best way to revise. It is different for everyone. Thoughout my time teaching a student, I will make sure that they find an effective and fun way to revise for them, be it flash cards, mind maps, blurting, or a whole host of other proven techniques.
