My lessons are designed to make Maths more approachable and less intimidating, no matter your starting point. Many students feel overwhelmed by topics such as algebra, trigonometry, or even basic fractions, because they are often taught in a way that seems complicated. In my lessons, I aim to break these areas down into smaller, simpler parts so that each step is clear and manageable.
I avoid overloading students with unnecessary terminology or long, confusing methods. Instead, I prefer to explain ideas in plain, straightforward language, showing how problems can be solved with simpler techniques. My goal is to demonstrate that Maths questions are often much easier than they first appear, and once the method is understood, the subject becomes far less daunting.
The structure of my lessons depends on the student’s needs. Typically, I begin by reviewing a topic to identify any gaps or misunderstandings. Then I explain the concept in a clear way, using examples and practice questions to build confidence. I encourage students to attempt problems themselves, while providing support and guidance to ensure progress.
Ultimately, my lessons are about building confidence as well as knowledge, so students leave each session with a stronger grasp of Maths and belief in their own ability.
As an A level maths and further maths student, I understand how much of a burden maths can be. Having tutored several younger students my methods have proven to be effective, allowing me to teach boys as young as 12 GCSE topics.
