My lessons are aimed at students who are not as confident and secure in their skills on AQA GCSE English literature, as they wish to be and are dedicated to making improvements.
My introductory lesson will consist of getting to know my student, highlighting where exactly they desire my help, drafting routines and methods on what suits them best, understanding their curriculum and the texts they are studying.
Following this, I will host our sessions twice a week (preferably on Tuesday and Friday after 4 pm). Each day will have its own focus, one session on content and another on essay writing and structure.
On content days, we will spend 10-20 minutes reviewing text, actively annotating and summarising methods and techniques. Then 30 minutes on a set task, which may include:
* creating character profiles, including their development, key actions, and relationships
* creating flashcards for key quotes categorised by theme or character for quick memorisation
* Worksheets that will be sent over that include writing tasks and other assignments
And more!
Finally, a 10-minute review of what we studied in the lesson and the exchange of feedback.
On essay writing days, students will receive an essay question at the start of the lesson. They will have 20 minutes to plan their answers and accumulate evidence and analysis, then the remainder of the lesson will be dedicated to timed conductions for the student to write their answer. Their work can be given to their school teachers or me to mark and receive feedback.
