I am always happy to tailor my lessons to my students needs and goals, but a typical lesson will include:
A warmup and scales, sight-reading, playing pieces and giving feedback, learning how to practice when you're not in a lesson, and improvisational skills.
Music theory also plays a strong role in my lessons, and I make sure that the student develops their musicality as well as learning to play just what's written on the page.
I want my students to be inspired to learn and play the piano/violin, so I like to discuss music recommendations and encourage listening to music outside of lessons, specific to the student.
But, ultimately, it's up to my students how their lessons go. Whatever your goals are, however much you're willing to practice, I love to teach the piano and violin.
