What you need to achieve your goals is the first priority. How we get there will vary wildly, for example analysing poetry or Victorian literature might not suit someone who has just begun to delve into the structure of the English language.
The material used will also depend on your personal interest, any set books in your curriculum, and experience.
Lessons will be taught over Zoom or similar, with exercises and explanations of language features or texts, is the port of call. This may involve short slideshows, written breakdowns of grammar, alternative examples, etc.
If texts are being studied, then lessons may involve discussions of the work to help develop your understanding of the language itself and the ideas conveyed through it. Recommended further reading will also be suggested.
Teaching English as a second language is separate from English as an academic subject, however I very much enjoy both and have experience teaching people from China and Italy the nuances of English, alongside helping others with academic English (for example, structuring essays, quotes to select for analysis and similar).
This is something I have excelled at personally and love since I was little, and the passion has carried me onwards through A Levels (with an A* in English Literature), University, and my professional career.
I'm certain I can help you find your spark within English and guide you on your way.
