I currently teach at an independent SEMH school in England. Previously, I have taught English online for a Chinese company. I taught children and adults, whose mother tongue is not English. Since qualifying as a teacher in 2012, I taught in mainstream, SEN, community and private educational institutions. I also support a young male with an acquired brain injury in his home and at college in York.
I have previously been a self-employed Ofsted registered childminder and attained my Paediatrics First Aid Level 1 & 2, Local Authority Safeguarding and Child-minding certificates, in accordance with the EYFS and Ofsted regulations.
Furthermore, I consider myself to be an articulate qualified ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) tutor, who is able to relate and communicate with learners from diverse backgrounds with varying degrees of ability. I am a committed and passionate ESOL professional, my PgCE attained at the University of Hull and teaching experience have provided me with the abilities and strategies to teach, motivate and direct learners, optimising their English language and literacy skills. I strive to create a positive, energetic and inclusive learning environment online and in the classroom.
I appreciate the importance of the wider benefits to learning, that is, not just academically but also socially, personally and emotionally. Moreover, having completed my PgCE at an ‘outstanding’ level, I believe I have the utmost currency in subject specialism, pedagogical theories and approaches.
Previously, I was a Governess for a UK based family with four children ranging in age from 2 years to 14 years old, I was employed by the family for 3 years until their youngest child enrolled into full-time education. Furthermore, I was a full time Governess for a VIP Russian family in Moscow. I was employed for 2 years in this role. Working very closely with the family, I taught the children and parents English and encouraged their social, personal and emotional development. I fulfilled my duties and the family were extremely satisfied with the results. After returning to the UK I was employed by a teaching agency, working in various disciplines from primary through to secondary mainstream and SEN settings. I gained invaluable experiences throughout this process.
I believe that my greatest strengths professionally and personally are being able to analyse, react and engage appropriately to the tacit knowledge of learners regardless of their level of English language skill and their socio-economic background. Moreover, the quick rapport I am able to achieve with people encourages stimulating and effective learning.
