Having taught for over twenty years, I have a lot of experience of teaching using different methods and teaching tools! I feel that this is really important as each learner is unique and what works for one student won't necessarily work for another. Therefore being flexible and having the ability to be adaptive is really important in my opinion.
My online lessons will use lesson plans tailor made by me to suit your learning needs. I'll make them engaging and interactive by including a number of different activities to support your learning. I feel that a varied approach to learning is more beneficial.
The lessons are presented on Powerpoint, but I aim to make them eye-catching and of interest to the learners. For example, one of my current students is a huge fan of Kpop Demon Hunters, so we recently had a lesson learning about how to use paragraphs correctly but using information about Kpop Demon Hunters to make it more personalised for her.
I'm willing to be flexible with the duration of the lessons as I've discovered that teaching online for an hour might be too long for some younger learners to be able to focus.
Spending over ten years teaching and living in Taiwan was a great experience in so many ways! Learning Mandarin while I lived there also helped me to appreciate the challenges one faces while learning an additional language. I used this experience to help me improve as a teacher by becoming more patient and more understanding.
