I have taught economics at A level for thirteen years and have also taught IB economics at SL and HL. My lessons are usually a variety of theory explanation, worksheets and a mix of learning activities e.g. gap-fill exercises, data analysis and real world examples. I also use online quizes, such as Kahoots, to check understanding and have recently started to experiment with Mentimeter. I have a wealth of powerpoints and worksheets that I can deploy on all topics at A level and I can also access a bank of past paper assessment material.
I like to explain theory at the start of a class and then allow some time for the student to practise applying the theory in different contexts to practise using the newly acquired theory. My lessons usually end with some form of knowledge check or exit ticket that confirms whether the student has understood the main objective of the lesson. This allows me to return in a subsequent lesson to help embed tje understanding.
For exam technique, I use past papers and model answers to help students see exactly what examiners are looking for in actual assessments. As an examiner with ten years experience (AQA mostly but also with Edexcel) I have plenty of insight into what makes a strong response and the strategies that help students stand out.
