I am currently a primary school tutor who creates schemes of work based on the child’s interests in order to keep them engaged in the learning. I focus on improving core skills, I also believe in frequent reflection tasks to assess where the child believes their own understanding is - from this I create my lesson plans . I typically do 60 minute sessions that usually follow this structure:
• a starter task based on previous learning (5 mins)
• introducing or furthering a concept (10 minutes) - this is done through an tailor made slide show presentation
• Main task - testing the skills involved through worksheets (20 minutes)
•movement break ( 5 minutes) - I’m a firm believer in learning through play so we will play a quick moving game related to the topic
• challenge task (15 minutes) this is to test how the child can manage the topic independently)
•Plenary (5 minutes) - reflection on learning so I can tailor make the next lesson plan.
This may seem like a packed structure however it is completely tailored and can be altered to the level your child can manage and enjoy.
I create fun filled schemes of work that run across a few weeks in order for your child to feel as if they are working towards a goal, my favourite scheme of work I’ve created is my Olympics scheme! I am able to provide examples of lesson plans and worksheets to you.
