Mia Davis

Hi! My name is Mia, I’m 21 years old and I’m from Glasgow, Scotland.

I have experience teaching English as a foreign language in a high school, in Paris. My students ranged from ages 13 to 18, all with varying levels of English proficiency. I’m an enthusiastic and engaging person and so, I used various types of games, activities and challenges to capture their interest, build their vocabulary and get them comfortable speaking English. My friendly, informal approach allowed me to truly connect with the students and create an environment where they felt comfortable enough to ask ‘silly’ questions, answer - even if they thought they were wrong - and engage in conversations about a plethora of topics from music and pop culture, to aliens and the ‘Oxford Comma’. This kind of environment allowed me to easily weed out any mistakes they were making, and rectify them in a way that ensured future accuracy.

I hope to bring that same comfortable environment to my one-on-one lessons with you. As everybody learns in different ways, these lessons will be catered specifically to you and your needs. I will create custom lessons that align with your level of English proficiency. We will build confidence, and a rapport, through conversations about topics that interest YOU. No topic is too small. I will introduce you to new grammar, tenses and pronunciations through interactive games and activities but most notably through constant English conversation. You’ll be amazed at what your brain will pick up just by being immersed in the language!
