I am a dedicated and patient English tutor that has both paid and volunteering teaching experience. I’m experienced in identifying students’ areas for development and unique learning styles in order to deliver effective lessons and support you through your English-learning journey.
I like to focus on your specific needs, meaning that I’ll tailor my lessons according to your strengths and areas for development to ensure you get the most out of our time together. I want to be your trusted guide, but maximise the opportunity to demonstrate your skills during lessons so that I can get a firm understanding of how you’re progressing.
Completing my Master’s Degree in TESOL (with a Specialism in English for Academic Purposes) at the University of St Andrews has given me a strong theoretical foundation in the science of language learning and teaching. The course offered the opportunity to learn about designing curriculums according to a learner’s needs, and to become familiar with analysing and refining a student’s quality of academic language, in addition to understanding the structure, contents, and requirements of English exams such as IELTS. My CELTA qualification solidified my practical teaching skills, meaning that I have the requisite knowledge to lead an effective lesson. My own experience studying for my Law degree means that I know what it takes to succeed.
Finally, and I believe importantly, my own love of learning languages has enabled me to understand both the challenges and rewards of language learning. This helps me to empathise with my students and guide them to reach their full potential.
