My lessons are structured but friendly, creating a calm and positive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress. Each session usually starts with a quick check-in or recap, followed by clear explanations of new topics and plenty of guided practice to build understanding and confidence. I use scaffolding and activating prior knowledge, connecting new concepts to what the student already knows, then reflect on what we studied, which helps them grasp ideas quickly and remember them long-term. Lessons are interactive and engaging, with examples, quizzes, and problem-solving exercises to maintain motivation. Providing a child-led feedback at the end so that the parent is always up to date with what has been covered!

For 11+ preparation, lessons cover Maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, alongside key exam skills such as time management, tackling unfamiliar questions, and developing strategies for answering efficiently under pressure. I tailor content to the student’s needs and whether they are preparing for GL or CEM-style exams, so lessons are focused and effective. I also encourage child-led feedback, allowing students to reflect on their understanding, ask questions, and influence the pace or focus of the lesson.

With over two years of tutoring experience, including working with SEN and anxious learners, I keep lessons encouraging, motivating, and well-paced. I focus on building confidence, resilience, and a love for learning, helping students feel proud of their achievements. I share regular feedback with parents and can provide optional practice or extra resources between lessons to reinforce progress. My ultimate goal is for students to leave each lesson feeling clearer, more confident, and ready to succeed, while enjoying the learning process.
