I would hereby like to apply for the position of ESOL teacher as it's a job I enjoy very much. As well as my background of many years of being a teacher of English as a second language, I've also started volunteering in ESOL teaching with the local council for learners in the area.
My previous experience covers all age groups and have also had the pleasure of managing and training other ESOL/TEFL teachers in my career. This gave me a unique opportunity to help new teachers in the field and give them the needed foundations to start their teaching career. Moreover, I always emphasised how important the learning environment is for learners in language. It's quite different from other types of learning.
Formats I use for exam preparation is lots of conversation practice and urging students to always look for new words which mean the same as ones they know to give broader vocabulary. As well as that, getting students to consistently use those new words in real life context that is familiar to the student works really well to help them use it and remember it. Content can consist of anything between flashcards to real exams to practice a real exam situation and on top of that, assisting with time management which can catch students out a lot! I love using word games as well to keep it fun too! I think it's also important that the student has a bit of a grasp on the level they are preparing for and me, as the teacher, keeping my talk time down (there's nothing worse that someone rambling on and on) so that the student has much more of their valuable and paid time to get on with their practice!
