About Me
Hello, I’m a fully qualified and experienced teacher with over five years in education, having worked with upper primary, secondary and adult learners. Teaching such a wide range of students has given me a wealth of strategies, resources and a deep understanding of how to help every learner thrive in my specialist subjects – English and history.
I take pride in building strong relationships with my students and tailoring lessons to their needs. Parents and learners are kept informed of progress throughout. My aim is to create a supportive and comfortable environment where students feel confident to ask questions and enjoy learning.
English
English is a subject I’m passionate about. I’ve studied it to degree level and taught students up to GCSE standard. I offer both literature and language lessons, and even if your focus is mainly on literature, I’ll weave in key language skills to strengthen overall understanding. Spelling, punctuation and grammar are always a focus to build a solid foundation for confident writing.
Together, we can explore:
• Linking context and history to texts
• Character development, themes and author’s intent
• Text analysis, interpretation and creative writing
Maths
Many learners find maths challenging, but with the right support it can become one of your strongest subjects. I enjoy helping students overcome worries and build confidence. Starting from the basics and progressing step by step, we’ll use engaging on-screen resources to make lessons clear and enjoyable. With patience and practice, you really can beat maths.
History
History has always been one of my greatest passions. I completed a master’s degree in international history before qualifying as a history teacher and have taught the subject up to GCSE level. I love helping students bring the past to life through context, analysis and critical thinking.
Together, we can work on:
• Building historical knowledge and understanding
• Analysing sources and tackling exam questions
• Essay writing and homework support
My Lessons
Lessons are interactive, visual and designed to feel just like being in a classroom, but with all the comfort of learning from home. I use digital whiteboards and engaging materials to bring topics to life.
I know tutoring can feel daunting at first, but my lessons are a safe and encouraging space where every question is welcome. Using the “I do, we do, you do” approach, I help students grow in independence and confidence each step of the way.
