Hello,
I am Mehal and I have finished my MSc in psychology. I work as a clinical services coordinator in Juvenile Justice Board, Bangalore, India. In my service one thing that I enjoyed was teaching.
I have always enjoyed having hours long discussions with my students and I have loved my job.
I encourage my students to do exploration, inquiry, research, and study. In contrast to simply delivering facts. I want my student to deal with questions, scenarios, or issues that demand critical thinking to solve.
Learning should demand more thinking and active participation from students than just providing the right answers to questions. For teaching psychology, this method of instruction is very effective because many psychological ideas are better understood through an understanding of processes rather than isolated facts.
Discussing about real life experiences and scenarios helps one to understand better. I believe stories always stays with us and hence I use case studies to explain certain concepts. My students also have the freedom to talk about anything that is within the field with me and seek guidance.
I am also interested in research and hence my students can also get research guidance from me.
I will also provide my students with good study material and reference books and research articles to understand a concept better. I sometimes also use power point presentations to explain a concept if the student is comfortable with the same.
In short I will try my best to equip my students with all the knowledge that I can provide and help them understand as much as I can.
