I will always try to adapt the lessons personally to the needs and learning styles of the individual. This can include varying formats.
Lessons will be interactive where possible with the opportunity for students to ask questions. For younger children this will normally incorporate associating learning through things they like and attempting to make the learning experience as playful as possible. For older learners, this will include relevant anecdotes and the opportunity to explain things in multiple ways and formats.
Lessons are primarily delivered through slideshow presentations with interactive components.
My experience as a teaching assistant helps assist with a more in depth understanding of the expectations within the education system and different ways to implement interventions. I am also used to tailoring lessons and remaining patient throughout. I am also able to assess when a child is struggling academically before they may be able to recognise this. Being able to recognise the frustration many children face when finding work challenging can help to ensure that the correct support is provided and that it can be provided in a method most suited towards the student. I believe that building a trustworthy and friendly relationship between tutor and student is paramount to success and allows for a better learning environment where the student feels safe to be themselves without judgement.
My experience within primary school and my academic background with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees further allows me a unique position in being capable of teaching a range of subjects across varying levels.
