Hello, I am an online private tutor from the East of England. I try to be an approachable yet effective figure for students, which comes easier to me because of my age. Despite this, I am still qualified in my subject, having participated in 4 UKMT Maths Challenges, 2 Kangaroo competitions, 1 Team Maths Challenge Regional Final and a County Maths Final, along with having attended mathematics masterclasses from the Royal Institution. I am currently doing GCSE Mathematics and am starting the GCSE Further Maths course soon, both of which I am predicted A*s in. For year 5 and 6 students, I understand that this can be a confusing, daunting and liminal time where it feels like you are helplessly preparing for a world you're not ready for. I know that when I was preparing for SATs, I wasn't at all confident, but I came out with results I'm proud of, and I think every student should feel confident in their own ability to do well. I am someone who believes in equity, not equality, and I am prepared to do everything I can to help your child improve while adhering to their individual learning styles and needs. After all, if I were trying to teach a bat to do maths, I couldn't just tell it what to do because it wouldn't hear me. In that same way, I know that in order to help your child, I must teach in a combination of my style/strengths and your knowledge of what your child needs. I have experience in educating in the form of teaching my own peers up to GCSE level.
