Lessons are structured but never boring. I break topics down into simple, easy-to-understand steps, using examples, visuals, mini quizzes, and real-life scenarios to make things click. I encourage students to ask questions at any point and I’ll often turn explanations into short activities so it feels more like a conversation than a lecture.
I like to keep lessons fun and motivating, especially for students who feel nervous or unconfident. I use encouragement, humour, and clear explanations to help build confidence, and I regularly recap key points so students can actually remember what they’ve learned.
Through my experience as a helpline volunteer, I’ve developed strong communication and active listening skills, which really helps me understand how students are feeling and adapt my teaching style to their needs. I’m patient, non-judgemental, and supportive, and my goal is always for students to leave lessons feeling more confident than when they started.
Overall, my lessons are a safe, positive space where students feel supported, challenged, and motivated to improve.
