For maths, I would ask for any work set by a teacher and if none, I would find some online or craft my own. I would use these questions to teach or re-teach any concepts or methods until I feel the student understands the content, constantly asking questions to understand where their ideas weaker points lie. Next, I would allow them to complete the questions on their own, going through their work to make sure everything is correct and they have understood it fully. For english, it would be similar where I find a question and we can write an essay together so I can teach essay structure and anything else that is needed for the question. I would then allow them to do some on their own and would give feedback on the piece. Creative writing would involve me teaching the fundamentals of syntax and language features, allowing the student to craft gorgeous imagery and sentences at ease by the end that can be applied in both fiction, non-fiction and essays. I may leave extra work to be completed at home so it doesn’t take up the entire of the tutoring session and give feedback once it has been handed back to me.
