I believe the best way to teach the skills is to try different frameworks of thought until one is understood by the student. There are many ways to get to the same result in maths, we just have to find the one that works for you!
When it comes to applying these skills, there is no better way than to try the problems themselves. I will guide you as to what you can look for in questions that will help you identify which skills you should be using and how to use them, and then we will practice until you get the hang of it.
