My lessons are very thorough, dynamic and pupil focussed. I always like to structure my sessions as a dialogue - working through the subject and the skills in a way that prioritises growing your confidence. We'll spend time looking through examples of your work in the subject, and I'll provide clear, accessible diagnostic feedback on exactly what you can do to improve in the future. We'll have plenty of opportunities for practicing skills and making significant progress.

I also have extensive, in-depth subject knowledge. I know the GCSE Literature texts inside out, and I know all of the unusual, perceptive details which will help your essays to really stand out. I also have extensive knowledge of literary theory, which has been a huge help to the A Level English students I have tutored to help them achieve top grades in their coursework projects.

I'm a creative writer myself, and pride myself on the specific, in-depth tuition I can provide on this often very difficult skill. This extends to compelling non-fiction writing as well, which is also an important part of English Language at GCSE.

Above all, my tutoring lessons are open, supportive places with a kind and engaging tutor. I always make sure that my students feel welcome, and a space where students feel secure and supported is always where the best learning can happen. I'm lively, engaging, I love to break down complex ideas into accessible chunks, and I always know my students' strengths and targets back to front, so you can get the full benefit of a true subject expert.
