My lessons will begin with understanding the students' needs. This will be in the form of an informal conversation so I can assess their attitude towards receiving tuition. I will make it clear that I understand the position they are in, having been a student not so long ago! We will then establish some objectives and create lesson plans curated around areas they require support with. I will have a stronger focus on spelling and grammar, as this is what indicates high-level answers to examiners. I will encourage students to strengthen their SPAG skills throughout our lessons. the first 5-10 minutes of lessons will be active recall, ensuring students are engaging with the subject outside of tutoring and testing their memory. This ensures they are able to apply their knowledge with confidence, so they feel less pressured in exam situations when they must recall information! The rest of lessons will be adapted according to the student's needs.
