My lessons are built around making Maths clear, practical, and less intimidating. I like to start by understanding where a student is confident and where they feel stuck, then break topics down into simple steps. We’ll work through examples together, practise past paper questions, and use real-life examples to make abstract ideas easier to grasp.
I keep lessons interactive — asking questions, encouraging students to explain their thinking, and adjusting the pace to match their needs. Some sessions might focus on revising key concepts, while others might be exam-style practice to build speed and confidence. I also give short recap tasks at the start or end of lessons so students can see their progress and remember key ideas more easily.
Through my experience as a scout leader and tennis coach, I’ve learned how to explain things in different ways to suit each learner and keep lessons engaging. I know that every student learns differently, so I use a flexible approach — some might benefit from visual explanations, while others prefer lots of practice questions. I make sure students feel comfortable asking questions and never rushed, as confidence grows best in a supportive environment.
My aim is always to help students gain confidence, improve their results, and even start to enjoy Maths more. Over time, I want students to not only feel prepared for exams but also to develop problem-solving skills that will stay useful in everyday life and future studies. I believe Maths is not just about memorising formulas but about learning how to think clearly, and I enjoy showing students how rewarding that can be.
