Hi there, I’m Maryam! I’m a French and Arabic student at Oxford.
I homeschooled, sitting my GCSEs and A-levels by age 13. As a homeschooler, I was forced to figure things out on my own, watching YouTube videos and reading books to gain an elementary understanding of topics before practicing with past papers and having them graded and going through them with tutors. This gives me the necessary experience to understand how to maximise the few hours of tutoring a child gets per week by taking advantage of free resources online.
After those exams I worked as a digital marketer, where I learnt how to manage a sales team and gained a ton of experience. Aged 17-18 I decided to sit more A-levels (French A*, Arabic A*, Maths A*) which I mostly self-taught.
French:
- I am half French
- A* in A-level French, self taught
- A* in GCSE French aged 11
- Studying French at University of Oxford
Arabic:
- A* in Arabic A-level, Highest Score in Asia, self taught
- Studying Arabic at University of Oxford
English:
- I’m from the UK, live in London, and English is my native language
- A* in the English GCSE with about five hours preparation
- I used to be obsessed with creative writing and have years of story-writing experience
