As a personal tutor for 4 years, I have trialled all different methods of tuition. However, my experience as a tutor during A level allowed me to develop a methodology for finding the best suited teaching methods. I listen to the concerns and strengths of the child - which tasks they find tedious and those that excite them, and why? My lessons do not allow a student to run away from their weaknesses, but instead confront them through a new lens.

Whether online or in person is preferred, I am available to accustomise towards your needs! I rely less on presentations and more on engaging activities that imbedd the content in long term memory, hence exercises such as mental recall at the end of the session to gauge what has been understood and remembered.

Secondly, I reject slapping a large piece of text in front of a student. If dealing with large texts, I am there to outline clearly to the student what they should be looking out for - and there will be a series of attempts with my guidance until I am confident the student can tackle it themselves. It is my responsibility to ensure the student does not feel depleted or bored when struggling, but rather, I emphasise their progress so far and the better that is yet to come, so long as they apply themselves - which is what I am here for!

Learning difficulties I am well rehearsed in. My time in tuition along with my personal experiences have developed a deeper understanding for the various learning techniques that potentially work better depending on the learning difficulty. My lessons will be a safe space - for all questions, all struggles, and most importantly, progress!
