Ideally, sessions would involve the student bringing in coursework or exercises that they have done during their time in class but failed to fully understand the topic or why an answer might be correct over another. During the first couple of sessions, we would spend a little bit of time to also get to know each other and create a comfortable space for the student, allowing them to take in information better. As sessions progress, I will attempt numerous ways to maintain the student's knowledge on the subject. Examples include Spaced Practice, where we would revisit topics that we previously went through by giving the student a quiz or exercises involving them. There would also be Visual Communication involved where possible, as the usage of diagrams or visual cues are my personal favourite way of learning, which means I can translate it into teaching much more easily. However, at the end of each session we would review what we have done and as sessions progress, the students are free to tell me which ways of teaching they prefer, or what they would like to see me do more of. This way I can dynamically change my style of teaching to the student's preferences and maximize how much they get out of each session. I'm confident in teaching Maths to any students currently in secondary school and up to A-Level and my aim will be to provide the above process as best as I can, in order to up the student's level of knowledge in the subject whilst also developing an enjoyment for it.
