I teach German and English for National 5 and Higher English and advanced higher. I am a qualified Qualification Scotland assessor and a dyslexia specialist. My lessons are designed on an individual basis to suit each student’s needs. I can tutor portfolio writing, Scottish set texts and RUAE and critical essay skills as well as German up to Advance Higher level. I tutor online but can tutor in person if a student lives locally and can come to me.
I also work as an adult literacy tutor with my local authority. I have experience of working with neurodiversity, autism, ADHD and dyslexia. I have tutored students with ASN from primary level up to Higher English level.
I can teach in a multi-sensory way and adapt my lessons to suit each individual learning styles. I seek to complement what the students are studying at school but aim to work on the areas where a student is needing more support. I offer proofreading to essays and portfolio writing. I will do a lot of exam preparation, doing past papers as well as help develop other exam skills such as time keeping, reading skills of skimming to find answers in the text. I will help them identify key quotes from the Scottish texts and critical essay text. I will work on essay structure, how to write an effective introduction and conclusion and how to structure the body paragraphs to create a strong argument.
I will communicate with the parents or guardian regularly to update them on the student’s progress and what areas they need to focus on.
