I have privately tutored the children of my friends in both primary and secondary levels of Maths. The first lesson I want to observe how the child approaches the questions and the answers and their method of thinking, and then giving them a better/new approach to correctly address the question at hand. I make sure to give sufficient homework for them to practice what is taught in the last session to better strengthen them and help them pass their Maths exam (primary school) or their GCSE's (Secondary school). I also make sure that I have communicated with the parents to supervise them and to assist them in certain points and I also provide videos from YouTube that may assist in my absence. The aim is for the child to learn a new technique and become so comfortable with it that when they read the exam question, it becomes second nature to them to be able to answer the question comfortably. Furthermore, I teach the child how to double check their answers so that after they have answered the question, they make sure the answer is actually correct- this will help them gain marks but also help them look at their answer from the perspective of the teacher or maker which will naturally help them improve their layout, their answer and how clear everything is depending on where and how it is written. All children I have previously taught have come out with A-A* levels in GCSE's and in primary have passed with more than 85%.
