I really enjoy bringing English lessons to life. I think the key to a good lesson is getting to know my students so that I can tap into their interests. This helps to make the lessons more engaging so that students are more likely to succeed. I use a range of techniques like videos, songs and pictures to use as springboards for their ideas. I try to make lessons as fun and engaging as possible with the use of tools like quizzes and bingo.

I am passionate about Literature and the beauty of language and relish the opportunity to encourage my students to feel the same way - even the reluctant ones! From Shakespeare to non-fiction, the study of English can inspire every one of us, no matter where our interests lie.

Over the years, I have amassed significant experience working with young people across the age and ability ranges. This includes students with dyslexia and other additional learning needs, gifted and talented students, and those who just need a little extra support to get them their all important pass mark for English.

As a former Head of English of 8 years and as a GCSE examiner of 4 years, I know precisely what students need to achieve to fulfil their potential. In more recent years, working as a tutor has allowed me to provide tailored support to students ensuring that they are able to maximise their potential, as well as helping them to achieve all important life skills that will benefit them in the adult world.
