Mariam Ahmed

I'm a passionate and experienced Maths tutor who loves helping students build confidence and achieve their goals. I achieved a Grade 9 in Maths at GCSE and am currently predicted an A at A-Level. I'm also proud to be a recipient of an award in an international maths competition — something that has really pushed me to explore maths beyond the classroom.

In my lessons, I focus on building a strong understanding of core concepts while also developing problem-solving skills. I tailor each session to suit the student's level of understanding, whether that’s reviewing tricky topics, practising exam-style questions, or working through homework. I like to make lessons interactive and engaging by breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps, and encouraging students to ask questions and think critically.

In my lessons, I aim to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — because that’s how real learning happens. I use a range of pedagogical approaches, including scaffolding, spaced repetition, and retrieval practice, to ensure knowledge is not only understood but retained. I also emphasise mathematical reasoning and real-world application, which helps students develop lasting skills rather than just rote techniques.

I have experience tutoring both GCSE and 11+ students, and I understand the importance of adapting my teaching style to suit different ages and abilities.
